I'm just passing along some information I received recently regarding NJ's adoption of the 2014 NEC. Bear in mind this is the NJ Administrative Code and allows cited exceptions to the 2014 NEC :

NJ HAS ADOPTED THE 2014 NEC (Monday 9/21/15)
Here is a Short version of the amendments NJ has made to the 2014 code which residential contractors should know:

Continue to follow the 2005 rules for 210.8 (A) 2 and (A) 5 (which is GFI 's in Garages and Basements exceptions)

Delete 210.8 (A) 10 (which is GFI protection for laundry areas)

Delete the words Kitchens and Laundry areas in 210.12 (which are areas that require Arc Fault Protection)

Delete 406.4(D) (which is replacement of outlets that require arc fault protection)

Delete 680.25 (A)(1) and use 680.25 (A)(1) from 2011 code (which are existing feeders to sub panels that feed pools)

You can see all the amendments on the DCA web page by doing the following :
  • Google NJ UNIFORM CONSTRUCTION CODE
  • go to section 3 subcodes

Electric subcode is on pages 73 thru 76 or you can click on the following link and go directly to the beginning of the NJ Admin Code

Bear in mind, you have a 6 month grace period when filing for new work, so you can use the 2011 NEC until March 21, 2016. However, you have to note it as filing under the 2011 NEC on the permit application or on the plans (if submitting plans).
