NJ has adopted the 2022 NEC. The attached PDF is what the adoption looks like. Break out your pencils and erasers - you'll have to mark up your Code books. They don't make it easy

Actually it's the 2020 NEC not the 2022. Also that document has no adoption date or mention of the usual 6 month grace period.

My-Bad - you are correct, it's the 2020 NEC. Another brain fart - it's getting worse every day. :)

The 6 month grace period is typical for NJ. We'll have to specify which Code cycle we are filing permits under.

Looks like the A/C gfci provision made it through
And the GFCI exceptions for garages and basements went away

Also the outside disconnecting means for dwelling remained. I thought for sure that would have been deleted.

I think many fire depts. pushed for that section. Any firemen that I have spoken to will not pull the meter in the event of a fire not to mention that many meter pans are locked.

I wonder if that will be amended in the rehab code

Good question. I'm planning on installing a new service in my house and my plan was to pull the permit within the next 6 months under the 2017 to avoid the outside disconnect rule.

Its interesting to take a look at state amendments, I have a friend that has a NJ license.
I wonder what the reasoning for allowing romex in drop ceilings is ? [334.12(A)(2) being deleted]

Seems like 16 or 17 of the 36? amendments are all in article 425, must be a big industrial process heating lobby in NJ.

yes, seems like most of the regular 2020 code is in there.

I didnt realize NJ adopted the 2020 until today and was searching for the amendments and this popped up. Thank you for sharing.
