I wrote to the NJ Division of Codes and Standards regarding the need for an electrical license to install solar panels and they then wrote the Board of Electrical Contractors for a ruling. The Division wrote back to me saying they were going to publish the Boards ruling in the Spring 2010 Construction Code Communicator. Here it is on page 10.

This goes out to all the sub code officials in the State of New Jersey. This means that in NJ if a company installs a solar panel or any associated electrical equipment the company needs an electrical contractors license and an electrical contractors business permit issued by the Board. Just trying to protecting the trade. How are other states handling it?
