NJ Exam - Which NFPA 72?

Hi All,
Which version of the NFPA 72 is being used for the test in New Jersey.
Testing company flier says 1999 but there is also a 2002 version?

Last I heard it was still 1999. You might peruse the newer one to see if there are any significant changes.

Its annoying, I called the state to see which one and they tell me to call the testing company...Any guess what the testing company said????
All I want is to not have to buy 2 versions of the same book...

Thinking back, I do remember seeing people at the test with different versions. Seems that there was confusion as far back as a couple years ago. Wonder if the guys with the 2002 version passed ?

I have both and looking thru the 2002, there are a lot of vertical lines (indicating change)on the pages. I don't have a summary of changes, so it's hard to tell what the impact of the changes is. Maybe you can borrow a copy somewhere ? Local fire marshall's office maybe ?

I used the 2002 book and just found out I passed .Be careful the test really should be called fire/security test alot securty questions on it too...

Thanks for all the replies. Called the testing company back and asked a different person. She seemed to know a bit more that the other (possibly due to my first call being at lunch time)
She said 'If the pamphlet says 1999 then the test is based on the 1999 code'
So, unless I hear otherwise in the next day or so I will be ordering the 1999 code.

It does make one wonder, why there would be a revised code and yet close to 3 years later it is still not used in testing...
Once again thanks for the reply and if anyone else has feedback please contribute. I don't plan on ordering right now (not ready to study that yet) And even if I do end up buying this thread might help someone else.

A friend of mine just took the test, after being in Bob Fragiane's (spelling of last name?). He used the 2002 reference and he also passed. And he also mentioned there were a lot of security questions as well.

You mentioned a class, I can't find any in northern New Jersey. Does anyone know of a website with a list of classes?

I took Bob Frangipanes class also went in with the 2002 book I passed.I did see people with both books.

Thanks for the heads up on the class. I would love to be able to go but distance and other conflicts prevent going to class location.
Looking for a class in Sussex County NJ if possible, or Western Morris County
Anybody have any thoughts on CD based courses?
Anybody have a used one for sale?
