Hello.

I took the ICS class and did the 60 hours. Now I am looking to take the exam and thought I could register this weekend. I went to http://www.prometric.com/NCPCCI/default.htm but when I get to the eligibility information I get the following screen....

Eligibility Information

The identification number entered was not recognized, Please try again.

If you do not know your program identifier, please contact your sponsoring organization.

What else do I need to do after I take the test? Am I supposed to register with the state first? I was under the impression that I didn't have to.

Any insight?

Sounds like someone should have given you a program identifier number so that you could register for the test. I would contact the person who taught the class. I would think that they would have gone through this process before and could provide you with the proper number. Knowing how things operate in Trenton they may not be of much help.

You can't just walkin to take the ICS test out of the blue.

If you haven't recieved a copy of licensing booklet(has a blue cover on it) from the State - take a good long look at it and give it the heavy eyeball:
http://www.state.nj.us/dca/codes/licensingunit/pdf/licens_info_bklet.pdf
(It's about 47 pages long)

Head on over to page 10/47:
Electrical Inspector Licenses Licensure Requirements for the Electrical Inspector-ICS license

These requirements must be sent to the State to document your experience.

Moving onto to Section III (pg 23/47):
Guidelines for Completing an Application for Licensure and for Trainee Inspector or Intern Registration

Section III, Item 7:
Originals of the appropriate successfully completed approved course certificates must be submitted at the time of application, or within 18 months after the date of application.
Have you filed an application with the State?

The licensing info booklet is NOT broken down per trade/license and there is a lot of paperwork to be done when filing for application with the State.

Have you spoken with anyone at:
Licensing Unit
Bureau of Code Services
N.J. Department of Community Affairs
