This will be a simple question. Where in the code does it say that you may put 2 NM cables in a single NM box connector? I have done this at home and have seen and read where others have done this. I can't seem to find this anywhere. Or is this one of those things that it's done because the code doesn't say you can't? I have seen on the package that they are identified for 2 cables. Just curious about this.

It depends on the connector. If connector is rated for 2 cables then you can do it. You need to read the listing information on the connector. Most common I see say you can use 2- 14-2's and 1- 14-3's I have no code references.

You have answered your own question with this statement.
Thanks, I usually like to see something close to what I am looking for in the code then if it says (in this case) you may use connectors with 2 cables if listed/labeled/identified for the purpose, I check the packages. I guess I don't trust every mfg. to be code compliant. I figured it was ok for this, just didn't know where to find it in the code.
Thanks for all replies!:)
