Anyone know if there any standards that would prohibit the use of a two screw type NM cable clamp in an appliance enclosure (ie fireplace), with the clamping side on the interior and nut to the exterior ?

(considering no exceptions from the appliance mfg)

perhaps not using a not-std-NM clamps? how would anti-short bushing work? but why install it backwards?
NEC says you must follow instructions. if the instructions show the proper way to use it you cannot flip it around.

That’s the one.

FYI that is a Raco connector. All Arlington connectors require installation the the outside of the box/enclosure.

We have been using the Rack-A-Tiers TT500's. They are double sided so can be installed inside or outside the enclosure.

You are probably correct. I thought I saw in EC Mag. that Arlington came out with the same type connector.

Not sure about the NM connector but I think they do have a AC/MC connector that can be installed from inside the box - handy at times when fishing I would think.

Just for clarification, the picture is not of a NM-B clamp. The picture is an AC/MC/flex connector.

Be careful of many of the plastic type "belly buttons". They can easily snag & tear jacket.

I have sometimes used metal connectors "backward" if space dictated. I sometimes slide locknut under a panel & connector in from inside. That also allows me access to tighten screws.
