I was reading February EC&M magazine's article Stumped by the code. It says cable clamps or cable connectors must be used with only one cable, unless that clamp or fitting is identified for more than one cable. Some Type NM cable clamps are listed for two Type NM cables within a single fitting (UL White Book, product category PXJV). Can anyone post some information about what type of connector allows more than one NM cable from the UL White Book? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Iceman,

Many NM cable clamp manufcturers have fittings (connectors) which are identified for multiple NM cables.

My quick internet search revealed a cut sheet from a praticular manufacturer which identifies multiple NM cables within their NM connectors. The cut sheet can be found here:

hope this is helpful

My personal experience in the last year or two is that just about every connector I've used clearly states good for one or two cables.

I have not read the article, but the UL White book is discussing the integral cable clamp the manufacturer puts inside of the box. Those are listed for one cable.
As seen by Arlington, there are other fittings listed for more than one cable.
