NM cable gomet / button/ bushing???

I recently fished some wiring into a old panel.I installed the button type romex connector. How ever I installed it from the inside the super says that won`t pass.Well I know I can drill bigger hole at top and use a connector from top side but can some one provide why this isn`t ok.It holds the wire its snapped in the panel it`s inside.I don`t see the big deal.I would understand if it were the long one`s with the tab that hang inside the box and look bad but this is the button type that pushes in.Have I in fact violated the NEC?Thanks in advance.P.S. I already fixed it but was wandering for the future.

Never had an inspector say anything about this.Would be easy enough with needle nose to do this right.Does anyone have the instructions or a link to site with this info?

If it is the type I think it is, when installed from the outside it prevents the cable from being pulled out of the enclosure. Installed from the inside, the cable could be pulled out and thus not be properly supported.

John yes there is one like that, also is one that lets the wire move back and forth. That one offers protection from the sharp edges of the panel.
