I know we had a thread about this a few years ago but I now may be in the market to purchase one of these stapler and I was wondering if they've become more widely used and if they're worth the $300. I'm looking at the Milwaukee M12.

Didn't know anyone finally came out with one.

I'll probably grab one just because, even though I don't do much residential anymore.

I have used one since it came out. Absolutely 100% worth it. It's well designed and I have not had it jam one time. It's a little heavy, and can't get into every spot you need it to, but mostly it's just awesome. Speeds up a rough in by a noticeable margin for me. I miss my hammer a little but you still get to use it when the stapler can't do the job.

I have a home project coming up where I may need to staple many NM cables to the underside of some joists above a hung ceiling and swinging a hammer in that location is just too cumbersome. I think that a tool like this would greatly increase production and limit the number of times I whack my fingers.

Ok, I got off my a** and looked. Yes, they are insulated, even red for Milwaukee so 100 years from now somebody will know you used Milwaukee. HD sells them for $20/ box of 600, 1" long.

My neighbor offered to let me use his yellow one. I haven't had such a job that it crossed my mind but now that it came up I do have minor staple job next week.
I can see the payoff if it amounted to much work though.

Yes Dewalt makes one too but since I'm all in with Milwaukee ecosystem I'm going to stick with the red one even though the Dewalt is a few buck cheaper. Also the Dewalt has a higher percentage of bad reviews when compared to the Milwaukee. I see that Big Orange has the M12 tool, battery, charger, bag, and a box of 600 staples for $315 so I think that I'll go with that. 👏

Can only be used straight on- can’t put a slight angle on- I personally don’t use I like tie wraps won’t damage wires
I have two in my vans and don’t use that much

Good to know. What do you attach the cable ties to?

I'm always open for buying a new tool, but have you looked into these

I've had both the yellow and Milwaukee. Milwaukee wins hands down. They drive in further but not so far as to pinch the NM. They do lots better on old hard wood than the yellow.

As far as how do you use zip ties with them. Just shoot one in the center of the stud/joist, then run the zip tie under it and around the cables.

One thing to note, with the yellow, you have to have the NM under the shoe or it won't fire. Very aggravating if you only want to shoot in a staple to secure a zip tie to. Milwaukee has no such nonsense. Just shoot the staple anywhere without the NM under it.

I bought the yellow one, because even though it's 20v instead of 12v, it's a bit lighter. It's great for old people like me with a bad shoulder were I can't always manuever my arm to swing a hammer over my head. The jaws of the yellow on can grab the wire, I move it into place, and bang, done.

Yes. the shoe safety on the yellow one can be a bit of a pain when you want to staple something other than NM, but on the other hand, you need to have the wire exactly positioned or it won't fire, so I've never accidently shot the wire with it.
