Hey, i was talking with someone who told me it is illegal to run romex in emt. Ill give you the scenario, we are in an un finished basement and the customer wants one outlet installed on the concrete wall. What i was going to do is mount a stick of 1/2 emt (to sleeve my romex) on the concrete wall into a 1900 and install a gfci. 334.15 (b) says i can use emt as a sleeve to protect the wire, am i correct? Then i was also told that if i was bringing nm in a stick on emt that i would need to transition to thhn first before running it through the pipe but ive never heard or seen anyone do that. Thoughts and opinions?

You cant install NM in a place where it would be a wet location, conduit or not. Sleeving NM in dry locations for protection purposes is fine. Put a EMT bushing on the top and it would be gtg (no need to transition from NM to THHN), here anyway.

Gotcha i re read your response after i accidently asked the same question. Thanks

It is s standard logical transformation:

If neutral --> noodle, then
Romex (TM) --> Ramen.

Not sure what the transformation would be to get udon? UL maybe?
Soba is still open.

Nah....you can't do it with Romex....;)...But Type NM-B is fine....LOL..
