Is there a specific height requirement when it comes to protecting temp. Wiring (nm) from damage in the code book?. I was told any wire used for temp wiring in construction under 8 feet (exposed) must be protect with emt....... please provide article number with reply

590 does not address this so the rule in 334.15(B) applies. That is a subject to damage rule and is subjective. Only YOUR AHJ knows if your installation is subject to damage. It would be my opinion that anything on a construction site less than 8' above the floor would be subject to physical damage.
