If a switch or receptacle box is located directly below a horizontal framing member (ie. fireblock)within 8" of the top of the box, is the hole drilled through the block considered to be both secured and supported?
It`s convoluted logic if a fire block is a few ins above a box what to do relocate all those fireblocks or violate bending radius.Since when are we framers.Ok I know just knock them out of the cavity and wire and secure to code then get the backcharge from the GC for replacing the blocks.Sometimes we think to much into the NEC that isn`t there like reality.
As an electrician I never had a problem fasting to the other stud and routing the wire to come into the bottom of the box instead of the top. I never seen a job after being a little creative you could not meet the fasting requirements of the code
