NMC (non-metallic cable) Romex would be considered NMC right? Isn't Romex a brand name, not a type?
They were talking about this on YouTube but I'm not sure how to comment while they're livestreaming.

NMC is actually a type of NM cable that has a corrosion resistant jacket. The NMC abbreviation gets use frequently for standard NM but really shouldn't be. Standard NM is not the same a NMC. I have never seen NMC cable but UF cable can be used for the same applications as NMC.

Romex is a brand name currently registered to Southwire.

Just to be clear NM cable is what we use regularly, not nmc.

Many items inside and outside the industry use brand names. Channel Locks for pump pliers, Kleenex for Tissues, Romex for NM, BX for AC cable, etc...

Actually the common nm wire in use is the nm-b giving the wire a 90° rating as opposed to the former nm-a that was only 60°, even though nec for amp calc uses the 60° column. Nm-c is rated for corrosion, flame, and moisture resistance in addition, some uf now carry similar ratings in addition to the uv resistance. As stated nm-c doesn't seem to be mfg any longer, but if you choose to use uf in a corrosive area, make sure it is rated uf/nm-c for use in corrosive areas as not all uf was created equal.

It wasn't NM-C, it was just NMC. From the UL Guide Information for "Nonmetallic-sheathed Cable (PWVX)"
This category covers Types NM-B and NMC-B nonmetallic-sheathed cable, rated 600 V ...
