No egc in old light extending circuit

So asked to add 4 lights. Found old lights have no egc. Reading 250.130 c 1. i can run a thwn single conductor from GEC to light splice box or any other of the 1-5 location to allow extension

The code permits that, but if you can run the single wire, you could run a new cable with an EGC.

Ya I did that once I found a route I just gave up and ran a new circuit. O well thanks anyway.
