I have a job that will have a detatched structure built next to a 60a spa disconnect that is no longer in use. Probably no longer than 5 feet from each other. Does the code state the disconnect has to be on the building? Can I run my circuits in conduit from the structure over to the disconnect [which is mounted on a post by itself]? Do I just sink a ground rod at the disconnect? or do I need to re route the feeder to the building and install a panel there?

Have you read 2008 NEC 230.70 AND 225.31 and 32. Those should help.
