Non-Isolating Transformer Fault

If a fault occurs on the secondary of a non-isolating trnasformer, what is the effect on the primary if any?

You don't mean internally I assume.

There's a big load on the primary.

I used to know something about calculating transformers (not a lot) but I don't remember much.

The primary isn't limited to it's impedance as a coil.

It depends on the type of fault. For the most part the primary sees an overload condition from a s/c on the secondary side.

A short circuit on the secondary would reflect a short circuit back to the primary. The only thing that would limit the current in the primary would be the impedence of the source, and the self inductance (and series resistance) of the transformer primary winding. The primary OCP should open in this condition.
