Nonmetallic-Sheathed Cable - Exposed

334.10 (3)- permits NM (romex) cable to be installed in commercial buildings of Type III-V, but requires it be protected by a 15 minute thermal barrier (1/2 gyp board).
334.15 - permits NM (romex) cable to be exposed, as long as it is protected from damage and/or closely follows the building finish.
Don't these 2 sections contradict each other? What would the requirement be for a type V commercial building such a large storage structure?
Protect it with a minimum 15 minute rating, or run it exposed away from damage?

Thanks,

The way I read it, 334.15 only prescribes how the Romex is to be installed when it is allowed to be run exposed.

So just to avoid any confusion, you are saying it is not allowed to be run exposed in any commercial Type III, IV, or V building other than One and Two Family Dwellings and Multi-family Dwellings?

It can't be run exposed in most building types because it must be protected by a thermal barrier.

Other structures permitted to be of Types III, IV, and V
construction. Cables shall be concealed within walls,
floors, or ceilings that provide a thermal barrier of material
that has at least a 15-minute finish rating as identified
in listings of fire-rated assemblies.
