With the information given, I can't see anything wrong with the installation.

Re: Nonmetallic Sheathed Cable Installation

 OOPS my first posting, let's try this again.

A fellow maintenance electrician asked me if I was aware of any codes pertaining to Nonmetallic Sheathed Cable having to enter a outlet box from the bottom of the box. He was told this was code by our building/electrical inspector. I checked Articles 300, 310,314, and 334. I didn't find any reference to this code about running NM cable into the bottom of a outlet box.

Any info on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Nonmetallic Sheathed Cable Installation

I have red-tagged for entering the top of the box when the NM cable comes from below the box and exceeds the bending radius by making an incredibly tight turn into the top, but beyond that, I can think of nothing against the code.

Re: Nonmetallic Sheathed Cable Installation

Straying off-topic here, but it's interesting to me how many folks have registered but never posted. There is a huge # of members with zero posts.

Today there are 13141 members.

The average number of posts per member is stated as three. This number is generously rounded up from 2.55.

There are a handful of 4-digit posters (five of them).

There are about fifty 3-digit posters.

There are about 250 2-digit posters.

There about 400 that have posted four-to-nine times.

There are about 1600 that have posted one-to-three times.

I estimate that out of 13141 members, over 10,000 have never made a single post.

As far as I know, you have to register to view this forum, so there are over 10,000 lurkers or non-posters out of 13141 members.

The top-five posters (0.04% of the total members) account for nearly 25% of the posts on this forum.

About 75% of the members account for no posts.

The nearly 25% of the remaining posters account for the remaining 75% of the posts.

Very interesting :)

That's enough number crunching for today :)

Nowaa, could being 'arranged to drain' be a part of this situation? Most folks avoid top/side entry if possible for wet.

First thing,

awwt, Interesting statistics with the numbers, but I usually read through some of the interesting questions and comments. I do pick up on some stuff from time to time, and I didn't know a registered member had to get overly involved with the forum.

Second thing,
The Romex is being installed in a detached garage with finished walls. I guess the best thing is to see the job my self. Thanks for your input TSHEPARD.

I have talked to many in the field who are registered but choose not to join in. to me that is fine plus it saves Mike some web space. It has always been said to learn you have to be a good listener. But I think what you are seeing is the many that were registered in the old forum that was carried over to this one that have long been gone or never figured out how to get here. But I have seen many that are sand bagging here. just go through and click on some of the handles and it will tell you what thread there in if they are in here.

Nowaa Welcome aboard

Oh just a though Awwt remember all those DYS's there still registered too.
