If it is a legally required emergency system and falls under Article 700, look at the (1) through (4) in 700.9(B).

Generally speaking, you must keep these systems separate.

I agree but what is the application of the generator?
The reason I ask is a lot of times people will call a generator an emergency system with out it coming close to meeting the definition. People will say they have an emergency generator installed at their home. No, they have a optional standby generator.

I know this seems like splitting hairs but to answer a question correctly one must know the exact application for the unit. The answer can and will change for the question depending on if it falls under 700,701 or 702

And welcome to the forum.
