In a commercial application, is there an exception that allows me to have both normal and normal/emergency panel feeders in the same pull box. Wire type will be THHN.

Wiring EM System

Wiring EM System

Wiring from an emergency source or emergency source distribution overcurrent protection to emergency loads shall be kept entirely independent of all other wiring and equipment

Is there a distinction in the code between emergency power and normal/emergency power???

Emergency power and emergency systems are specified in the building codes.

For example IBC section 2702.2.4 requires that means of egress illumination that comply with 1006.3 be supplied by emergency power.

Keep in mind that optional stand-by power is not considered emergency power.

emr and emc

emr and emc

My question is what do the letters emc and emr stand for ? There is a school with an emergency generator that operates several panels. Any ideas what the letters emc and emr stand for?

You have to figure out if the generator supplies true 'emergency loads' as described in 700.1 or if the loads are 'optional standby loads' as described by 702.2

Often what we call an emergency generator is not an article 700 application. Look at the scope of Article 700, 701 and 702
