I had to re-read this twice. I thought you were looking for non-foreign products that have quality problems.

Ideal Industries wire nuts are American made.

You are very unlikely to find GFCI's, die-cast and steel fittings, circuit breakers, screws, hardware, etc that is domestic. So there goes your list.

However, I think Square D QO breakers are American made.

Does "made in USA" mean that something is American made?

Not necessarily.
There are certain zones in places like Macau where clothing items are assembled and the labels are allowed to say "Made in USA" due to complicated treaties and international laws.
Trusting the tag or marking on anything is like trusting a politician to tell you what they really think.

Square D QO breakers have been made in the US and in other countries for many decades. I remember getting some from Ireland back in the early 80's.

I have very little problem with things being made overseas. My complaints come from the Quality Control procedures of the companies doing the importing. For example, all of the Square D products made in Mexico are made in Square D owned and managed factories. This is completely different than the XXX toys purchased from the lowest overseas contract bidder and then imported with no quality control.

I have never seen a product maintain the same quality when the production is moved to another country. Sometimes there are only minor differences, and other times the product is almost junk. I am talking about products from name brand companies like GE, OZ Gedney, B-Line and others.

Further evidence that you are spending way too much time in the code.

Ironically, I find that many of the products made overseas are a higher quality product than those made here.

I can't recall what company it was, but I worked on a machine that made seal tight fittings in a plant near Chicago not too long ago. I don't think many of the employees running the machines were US citizens though.

You feeling lucky?

You feeling lucky?

What do you make of this?

Made in China. The risk of being avoided by a buyer is greater for Chinese goods these days than goods from just about anywhere else. They have to list the country of origin, so they list two.
