Good afternoon. I have a customer that has a Daiken comfort system in a resort. For some reason he constantly loses power. (not sure if its a leg or total loss) This causes his control board to fry at an expense of $3k each time. He has a voltage sensor that alarms him when the power is at low levels and high by an indicator light but when the power comes back, the lights go out. He wants a light to be installed outside on the building like a beacon that will flash until its reset by staff, not when the power comes back. Lithonia has a battery pack used for emergency lighting but it cuts off upon re-energizing the circuit. Any ideas?

Thanks

there are several companies that make phase-loss monitors for that specific purpose. try searching for that, if I can find a like I'll post it.

you can use a low volt (dc) beacon or strobe outside controlled by a relay that latches via a normally closed reset button. the relay would "make" on power loss and lock in until someone actually came and pushed the momentary normally closed push button. if you like i'll provide a diagram for you. jim

OP asks for a flashing beacon,This schematic is a steady burn.

You could actuate an Interval Timer with the low contact on the Voltage Sensor relay and pick up a control relay that would seal itself in with its own contact, put a NC momentary pushbutton in for reset.

The interval timer will flash the light on and off until it is reset and the power has been restored,a second contact on the control relay could replace the low voltage alarm if its still needed.

I'll sketch up a schematic if you would like.I do have a question tho TG,does he want the original system disabled after the loss of power?

the symbol used is for ageneral load, i told em he could use a strobing fixture, he needed help with the control and reset not the fixture....

Why is all the effort being focused at fixing the symptom instead of the problem?
You may have to do some power quality monitoring to figure out exactly what is happening with the power.
I'm assuming that you are in, or near Williamsburg, and being supplied by Domminion Power. It would seem that the POCO would have a vested interest in providing adequate and reliable power to a commercial customer.

Knowing the mfgr., I'm sure that $3K control board, almost certainly has a regulated power supply and an elaborate protection scheme built into its design.

What is this strobe light suppose to do...let you know that the board is fried?:-?

This whole scenario isn't adding up right. Please give us more info.:D
