NRTL field evaluation

Does anyone know the cost for a field evaluation from say Intertek? (simple piece of equipment, meets the appropriate ul standard, but needs a sticker)

ETL and UL both visit our jurisdiction on a regular basis. The cost is dependant on the amout of testing, number of peices, size of the equipment and of course, the amount of time needed to perform the testing. Last time ETL was in town was for a series of light fixtures (about 10) and I believe they charged $1500 (I'm not sure of the exact $$$, but I recall the number in that range). Best bet is to call and give them specifics so they can quote a price.

thanks. i plan to call them on tuesday, i just needed a number for budgetary purposes.

look for someone VERY local with the qualifications.
The state fire marshall here maintains a list... maybe there too.

The local guys will be a LOT less than UL rates.

a friend of mine does field evals for intertek and I believe he says it varies but $2,000 is a common price.
