Currently, We have conduit contain with cable. The size of conduit is 1,5 inch. The conduit contained with 18 heater conductor (8 AWG) and 1 grounding cable (10 AWG). The conduit is hot if the cable online (in service).
Could give me information about thi phenomena? is it limiting number of conductor inside conduit?
is it current circulation inside conduit that causing the conduit heating?
Are there any standard to solve this problem?
Thank.

You have 18 separate conductors in 1 1/2 inch conduit. Are these conductors all the same phase or are they parallel 3 phase conductors? What is the load on each connductor?

How hot is hot? What is the load on the conductors? Remember that under full load the conductor may be operating at 60?C. That will make the conduit feel "hot" to the touch.

the conductor to serve heater at Tank Base of LNG. We have 4 (four) LNG Tank. The conduit is located beside the tank before entering to tank base. The third LNG Tank has difference conduit size and the temperature is too hot. At the other conduit in difference LNG Tank, we not found this phenomena due to the conduit is more larger (2 inches) than the conduit at the third LNG Tank.

Could any body tell me how this phenomena occurred?
is it has correlation with circulating current inside the conduit?
Any body give me information about NEC article 346 and table 1?

Your Cooperation and assistance highly appreciated.

Is that the type of tank base heat where the conductor itself is used as the heating element? Are both wires of each circuit in the same conduit? Is the dark color on the conduit caused by the excessive heat? If so why no evidence of damage to the wireway or the conductors in the wireway?
