Number of disconnects in a panelboard

I am trying to figure out how many disconnects can a GE distribution panelboard have. Does the rule of 6 applies to the distribution panelboard inside the building too. Article 230 does mention about no more than 6 disconnect for a service entrance. The panelboard in questions is a 250A MLO, 480V, 3ph (name: DP-44). It is being fed from a 250A circuit breaker about 125'-150' away. Another 250A MLO, 480V, 3ph panelboard (DP-44A) is lugged to it (DP-44). Can this panelboard (DP-44) have more than 6 disconnect switches.

There is no limit on the number of breakers in that panel. It is not a service or building disconnect, and is protected on the line side.

Thanks. The main breaker on the line side is about 150-200 feet apart. Is that still ok?

Yes the distance is trivial unless the panel is in a different structure where other rules may apply.

408.36 Overcurrent Protection. In addition to the requirement of 408.30, a panelboard shall be protected by an overcurrent protective device having a rating not greater than that of the panelboard. This overcurrent protective device shall be located within or at any point on the supply side of the panelboard.

So can the overcurrent protection be 200 ft apart from the distribution panel on a different level and the distribution panel can have more than 6 CB's ? Also to add to that another electrical distribution panel is lugged to it.

Yes, no problem.

Concern might be reduced from the requirements of 408.4(B) requiring the panel to be marked so as to identify the source of the supply so one does have an idea as to where power originates

The more than 6 CB's is not relevant for a panelboard fed by a feeder.
