I have a building housing communication equipment for a toll bridge on a platform next to the bridge. The service is 500 feet away and supplies a 480 VAC feeder to the structure that lands in a junction box on the platform right outside the building on a free-standing rack.
The feeder splits at the junction box and supplies two disconnects. The two disconnects are right next to each other. One is for roadway lighting and the other feeds a transformer that steps the voltage down to 240 VAC before entering the building.
Is an additional disconnect needed before the junction box?
