number of recessed lights in basement

I've done so many, I should have a formula by now, but if I have to install 6 inch 65 W equiv LED recessed lights in a basement room 28 X 30, with an 8 foot ceiling, do you have a distance between lights formula or rule of thumb? My customer wants it really bright for a weight, training room for his customers. Black mat flooring. Thank you!

"Rule of thumb" I use is to put the lights apart half the distance of the height of the ceiling.

Example: 8' ceiling, put lights 4' apart
This covers the area well with no dark spots.
I usually stay about 3' off the wall to keep from having "wall wash".
