number of services

Good day electrical experts!

I'm new on this forum and please help me to understand deeply the requirements for number of services especially on multi-occupancy buildings.

thanks!:)

A building or structure built is permitted to be supplied by only one service per 230.2 unless you meet the provisions of Parts (A) through (D) of that section. For multi-occupancy buildings, additional services are generally supplied due to capacity requirements or space limitation. In most cases, the builder or developer needs to get approval by both the power utility and the building department if more than one service is planned.

Then keep your proper work-space distance away from me!

You apparently think I would be described as condition 2, "Exposed live parts on one side of the working space and grounded parts on the other side of the working space." But I'm actually not exposed at all unless alcohol gets added to the mix.

Thank you for the input. Here in our country the high rise building such as residential condominium was given about two to four transformer bank and the multi-metering was installed per floor. That would mean two to four services (service lateral).

That seems reasonable. What country are you referring to and what electrical code do you use?

I'm from the Philippines and were using the Philippine Electrical Code which is an adaptation from the NEC. The only problem was the installed transformer banks was below 40% loaded because of overly electrical designed. Thus increase in system loss (technical) on each transformer banks.

Yes, i see a lot of Tom Henry books here and i have a few; electrical history, tom's guide (i think), and electrical theory. Thank you for replying in my query. I love this site and this quorum.
