I am currently working on a Nursing Home. I have two questions. In the resident rooms we have a generator circuit with between two beds that is a double duplex. Does this receptacle need to be installed in conduit?

The print is telling us to install all electrical in resident rooms per 517 patent care area
I am reading 517.18 (A) exception no. 2, I do not believe that article 517 apply to the rooms at all. If that is the case can Romex be used for the rooms?

517.18(A) and its exception 2 have to do with how many (minimum of 2) receptacles and the sources (one normal, one emergency) that supply them. The exception does, I believe, remove the requirement of at least one normal and one emergency receptacle from the bedroom of a nursing home. But the requirement that all branch circuits serving patient care areas use metal raceway or metal armored cable does not have a similar exception. SInce the project documents invoke 517, then I think you have to follow 517.13(A). So I would say that romex is not allowed.
