July 25. 2025 NYS adopted the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and State Energy Conservation and Construction Code -which is 10 documents. The building code, Chapter 27, references the 2023 NEC. The 10 documents are + or- 7,000 pages in addition to the NEC. They are supposed to be referenced before referring to the NEC.
September 27th, it will be ratified with a few months for a company filing will be permitted to use the 2017 or 2026. December 31. 2025 will most likely be the day when filing will be to 2026 only. We are only 3 years behind!!!
To set this straight, there is a confusing portion to this if one is not accustomed to Regulatory ways. NY state referenced the 2024 ICC as reference. BUT the NYS documents are referenced as 2025, including the building code is NYS 2025. Do not reference the NYS 2020 documents after December 31. 2025
