Occupancy Sensors' Low Volt Cables

I am installing occupancy sensors for the first time and they are the round cieling mount type. I am using the occupancy sensor control unit that puts out 24volts to the ceiling mount sensor. What type of wire is normally used for the low voltage, and it appears that it is just free wired above the ceiling tiles?

I've always just used a CL2 t-stat cable with open splices. Careful if it's an air handling space, you'll need plenum rated cable.

If the 24 volt circuit is class 2 or 3 you can use a CL2 or CL3 type cable.
