A current hospital installation is using an ats (auto transfer switch) to feed a main breaker panelboard. The mbp is located several floors above the ats. I am removing the mbp and installing a dts (double throw switch) so I have dual feeds to a ups system (primary and alternate maintenance feeds). If the feeders are the same size from the circuit breakers feeding the primary sides of the ats, thru the dts and then to the ups, is there any need for ats secondary ocpd, or a fused dts? Large distance from ats to dts. Ups next to dts.
