OCPD for VFD's

Does it matter how large the OCPD is on the line side of a VFD? I know code says it must be 125% of drive input and so must cable. But does it matter if breaker and cable are larger than 125% say 200%, 300% etc?

Does a vfd have its own short circuit fault protection?

Consult with the drive manufacturer who will advise you if or what OCP may be required.
Otherwise size the OCPD to protect the wire.
