Im installing a GE/Zenith ZTG ATS 3 pole 400 Amp 208V

It is labelled as Cat CTG

Design calls for 2 no. 3/0 AWG per line. Lugs are one hole box lugs marked

S-2701
Cu7Al
600MCM-4
(2) 250 MCM-1/0

The prob:

Cat rep says need to change to 2 hole lug

Fellow engineer says no problem as 1 hole has "oval" shaped hole & marked for 2 conductors or 1

Whos "right"?

Bob the OP said the lugs are marked as follows:

S-2701
Cu7Al
600MCM-4
(2) 250 MCM-1/0

They are designed for 1 or 2 conductors so I don't see any reason to change them.

The S2701 is GE/Zenith's replacement part number for those lugs. If not made by Zenith themselves, they were probably custom designed for them. From the looks of them in the manual, they are a proprietary design and packed very tightly into the module, I doubt you can fit anything else in there. I also have to imagine that if you changed the lugs you may in fact violate the UL listing on it as well, because clearances look very critical on that.
