Off grid solar system grounding

I'm wondering about the requirements for grounding solar powered systems for 120/240 that are independent of so called "on grid" systems. Most of the distributors here in Canada, at least, seem to think grounding is a bit unnecessary, which seems to be way outside a normal system.

Does anyone have any advice?

Look at 250.24... and read on...

Other than the fact that your in Canada, if you look in the NEC theres plenty of requirements (with exceptions) to ground (rod) it. There's ground requirements for all systems from 0 to above 1000V, of course with exceptions.

I found this only by looking at it as a seperately derived systems, which you mentioned that it was not connected!.

I'd ground it, and bound it all together.

08 NEC has added some new rules on grounding of PV systems. Basically one of the DC conductors is grounded with an exceptions,. Also PV systems require grounding GE connection.
And same in Canada may be required per CEC. Your distributors may be off the CEC and NEC grid, so to speak.
