House panel is maxed out. Customer is asking me to power a future room addition from a detached pool house service. Is that ok ? Thank you
I’ve done a brief calculation and this house has been added on so many times, etc. it’s maxed. He had me run an underground hot tub and another 120 v circuit to within about 20’ from the house out of a new 200 amp pool house service. ( I installed last year) Now he changed his mind. No tub but asked if I cd j box and extend to the house for future garage addition on house.Generally no- a structure must be fed by a single service (there are reasons why more could be allowed, but a full panel or undersized service isn't one of them). Give us a little more detail?
Sounds like a service upgrade is in order.I’ve done a brief calculation and this house has been added on so many times, etc. it’s maxed.
Guess they've never heard of directional drilling.POCO was saying they need a front concrete patio removed
Don't forget the HO also has a pool house. My first thought was 'HO can afford a pool house but not a properly sized electrical service'?So he's got $50,000 for a garage but can't cough up a other $6,000 to make the electrical right
I agree with @zbang - all or nothing
Guess they've never heard of directional drilling.
"You missed."they’d come up there.
The reality is always differentIt might pay to actually meter the service and determine the existing loads. It calculates out as being being maxed out, but the reality might be different.
