We all know how dangerous these situations are, so you are preaching to the choir.

My limited experience with this as an inspector and having direct relationships with the building departments is this:

The building department (in NY State) is the Ahj.

Some of the building officials in the different municipalities do not want to see or hear about this for whatever reason(s).

There are some who do, but it is a struggle none the less, as there is fierce defiance of violations sent to these premises. It would seem to me that some of the building owners have learned all they have to do is contend the violation and the violation seem to disappear :D .

Sounds like a situation that may need to be carefully applied when a issues arise that could become somewhat explosive.

I hope that there will be more than one inspector making these inspections.

Of course, we will enjoy seeing any images you will share if possible.
