I'm trying to find a replacement for an old exhaust fan made by Pryne & Co they were located in Pomona California at least 40 years ago or more. Maybe any of you guys know any website or any info where I could get any cross reference. We dont want to break any plaster to replace whole thing. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

I would give W.W.Grainger.com a try first, they have many cross references.

yes motor can be replaced, I went to my distribuitor it seems motor is replaceable by a Nutone motor but it looks we need to be sure for rotation and according to fan, it needs to be counter clockwise and Nutone is Clockwise.

Wouldn't the rotation be dependant of the blades orientation?
Not necessarily. The typical bath fan uses a radial propeller; the housing shape determines which way it should spin. As for the motor itself, the shading coils determine the rotation.

Mountain, I have disassembled a shaded-pole motor for the purpose of flipping the coil/pole-piece assembly, which reverses the motor direction. The bearing caps almost always fit either way.

I did a little search on the web and it appears that there is an emerson/pyrne co. I would try and contact emerson but I would bet you'll need to change the fan out. 40 years-no way-I'll bet my wife's life on it
