I took a code course couple months back and one thing the code official giving the course said that stuck with me was that when and if the 08 code get adopted in New Jersey you can pull permits for 6 months on the 05 code if you write 05 code on the permit anyone ever heard of this and know where I can find this in writing?

That is correct but you have to specify, up front, whether you're filing under the 05 or 08 code. For instance, the equipotential bonding grid for pools (you know the one that costs about $1K) will be replaced by a single solid #8 wire under pavers around the pool under the 2008 code. So, if you're doing a pool job you'll want to file that under the 2008 code. On the other hand, if you don't want to have the garage door opener circuit protected by a GFI you'll have to file that under the 2005 code. But, yes you'll only have a 6 month grace period. If you have any questions call the DCA.

As that link states the "comment period" in NJ ends Dec 19, 2008.
So if you have issues or suggestions with the 08 code, send in your suggestion to the NJ DCA website. Not sure what happens when you send in your comment, but I guess you can sleep well knowing that you have done your part in getting rid of tamper proof recetpacles EVERYWHERE!
