I've been asked to bid a fuse panel replacement. It's built into a block wall as you can see in the pictures in the links below. I don't think there's a panelboard interior and cover that would fit this to make it simple and I'm looking for any suggestions on what would be the best way to go about this. The existing can is 22W x 53H and 6 1/4 deep. I had thought about putting some steel strips around the can to make it sized so a standard cover would fit it and then mount studs inside to allow the interior to fit the cover but thought I'd check and see if there are other options. Thanks for any suggestions.

Eaton sells retrofit interiors and will stamp a cover to match your can size. Call your local Eaton distributor and they should be able to help.

Most panelboard manufacturers can make custom dead fronts and covers to put their panelboard in an existing enclosure. I had a project about 40 years ago with the enclosures in poured concrete walls and SquareD provided the guts, dead fronts and covers to match up with the existing enclosures.

What is dimension of the opening in the cover? There been a couple times I was able to find a load center that nearly perfectly fit that opening, maybe needed to put just a little trim piece in or even cut just a little bit out.

I agree with the others. Leave the cabinet in the wall, remove the panelboard, and have a custom interior and new cover made.
