Old GE Panel question

I work in an industrial environment and have little exposure to residential panels and breakers. Perhaps I could get some help clearing some panel questions I have. I am working on an old GE panel it says use R,TR & TQL breakers. Obviously they are not available. The panel has a couple of old GE breakers and Bryant Type BRD BD 30-20 tandem breakers. I wanted to install a Quad number BRD220230 ( Cutler Hammer) which looked like a good choice. The spec sheet said it was OK for a BR panel. Problem is the face of the breaker does not fit the cut outs in the breaker cover. The breaker is too wide for the cut out. Seems as though the BR 30-20 might fit, but I wanted to have a 2 pole Breaker. Is there a way to confirm what is compatible? This panel is very old and I tried to cross the numbers. I have been trying to cross the Bryant breaker numbers, but maybe this is the wrong approach. Any ideas from those who have dealt with these old panel would really be appreciated.
