I found these Carlon boxes (B125AB) at HD. Seems like a good work around for this 100-year-old house rewire. I am probably going to abandon the old BX and just cut in new boxes as needed and run Romex. Then either put a blank cover on the old, abandoned boxes or they can plaster them up.

These have good cu inch capacity.

From the video I watched you can screw them to the edge of a stud, nail them to the face of the stud or screw them to the stud from inside the box which seem like a great idea.

Almost seems too good to be true.

Has anyone used these specifically for screwing to the stud from inside the box?

How do they work out?. The walls are plaster on wood lath.

I would guess the plaster and lath might be about an inch thick or so.

Same here. I use them all the time. I keep a dozen or so on the van.

Basically the same as the Arlington F-101, or these from morris, which have both ears and angled screw.

Honestly the Arlington F101 is a better box, but the Morris box has ears and captive screw, so instead of carrying both F101 and Carlon remodel boxes with ears, I can just carry 1 style of box.

And the F-series goes up to a 4-gang. 👍 Really nice boxes.
