GE panel: TX1212E (Model 1)

I need to replace an existing 40amp breaker with a 50amp breaker for a stove/range upgrade.

According to this model marking in the panel I can use in the top portion on left side where the existing 40amp two pole (tiebar) breaker is a two pole 50 amp breaker "TQL". All new breakers are now marked "THQL". I don't like to assume if the new THQL such as what Home Depot has listed here THQL2150 is the proper one.

If it is compatible what is the new "H" designation mean; please.

Thanks so much.

They should be compatible, but I have not yet found a statement from GE to that effect.
The H stands for "High AIC". They have an AIC of 10KA compared to the courtesy 5KA of the original TQL.
Which may not matter if the panel they are going into is unrated and so has only a 5KA SCCR.

Yes, that's what I read about the "H" but just was not sure if it was compatible.

I realize depending on the rating of a stove/range it may not be necessary but I explained that to the customer and also told them about the 50amp min and 3 pole 4 wire requirements The existing line/receptacle is 3 wire and NEMA 10 with a 40amp 2 pole breaker. They want to upgrade to the 3 pole 4 wire with the NEMA 14-50R. The stove/range (above) has the NEMA 14).

There is presently no stove/range hooked up in this unit. This unit is part of a side-by-side where they live on the other side. They would like to put this stove in so they may rent out the unit.

These people in the mean time are seriously considering selling both units as a whole and would like to make sure that this is compliant and safe. They would rather spend the extra money now and be done with it for both safety and salesability reasons.
