Older mobile home in trailer park and the electrical source plugs in much like an RV, nothing is hardwired to outdoor power source only plugs in. The main electrical source plugs into the panel outside and hardwires into the inside breaker box. This is a mobile home not an RV and no idea why it wasn't hardwired in from the start. It was all like this when we bought the trailer some 10 years ago.
The outdoor panel also has another 50 amp outlet that the outdoor ac unit plugs into. Separate wiring is run for the outdoor panel with one end plugging in and the other hardwired into the existing central unit. The central unit went out and had no breaker box or disconnect. All of this was like that when we bought the trailer
I don't know much about electrical stuff. Having an electrician add a 220 outlet in the house to allow for a 220v window unit.
The outdoor power source for the a/c is a plug-in 50 amp outlet. He ran new 10/3 wiring outside from the RV type panel in conduit to a 20 amp breaker box and will pigtail into the trailer to a wall outlet. He used 10/3 wiring because the intention is to add a mini-split in the future.
Is it ok to plug in the one end to a 50 amp outlet and the other end hardwired into a 20 amp breaker? He is an electrician so I assume he's doing it the right way.
Thanks in advance.
