Has anyone ever heard of Olex (New Zealand) Conductor.

I have a 4/0 AWG Aluminum Armor, Copper Conductor (19 strand).

It is high voltage well ... 13.8kv cable.

I would like to find out the allowable ampacity for this conductor.

Three core or single core (conducutor)?
In air, conduit, buried?
Insulation - XLPE? EPR?

My old Olex catalog says 120 mm (approx #4/0) 3/C copper conductor, XLPE, shielded, PVC sheathed 12.7/22 kV cable has the following ampacity:

375 A in air
340A buried
290 A buirid in conduit.

No data for aluminum jacketed cable. No data on depth of burial, ambient temperature, cable temperature. I only have certain pages of old catalog.

try Google?

Buried

Buried

The conductor is in pvc pipe, concrete encased and buried.

There is no reason why the 4/0 rating would be other than normal, I was just inquiring about the possibility of it being different.

I have a client arguing that thios cable was specified by a electrical company.
