Anybody ever work on one of these? Its an Olympus AU2700 medical analyzer for blood, urine etc...

I was told L6-30R receptacles but when I got to the job I found out they are using a UPS.

The spec sheet calls for 50 amp circuit breaker when used with UPS.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm running #10 on a 50 amp breaker with a 30 amp receptacle or

#8 on a 50 amp breaker with a 30 amp receptacle.

The company hasn't been much help yet.

The unit isn't on site and the circuit needs to be ready to go as soon as it arrives.

How can a 30A receptacle be placed on a 50A circuit? Just a question that has had me curious because was always under the assumption that 30A was 30A OCP max & a 50A was either 40 or 50A OCP.

The more back up capacity the UPS has the higher the input capacity of that UPS potentially can be. More capacity potentially means higher charging current if the battery is low. How long equipment needs to be able to run when normal power is lost will determine how much capacity the UPS needs to have.

The machine it is driving still remains the same, but one may need to consider how much charging current can the UPS with dead battery draw as well as adding the driven machine load - this may be why the 50 amp circuit is needed.
