I did one large (200+ switches) On-Q ALC lighting system and didn't have many problems. FWIW, I would go with a Vantage or Lutron Homeworks for the same system if I had it to do over. Programming is fairly strightforward for the ALC stuff and I do like that that I was able to set up application sharing through the customer's internet router so I can connect to the system via my T-1 internet connection to make any tweaks and program changes. The wiring of the switches is a bit of a PITA with the ALC LV wires connecting to the 120 volt switches but other than that it is a pretty solid system.
