I'm wondering of all the EC's out there, what do you think the percentage would be in your town of "one to two man" shops vs larger EC's. Just think about your area and give me your hip shot....

For my town I would say.....mmmm

60% one to two man

40% larger

The larger guys seem to be the survivors here.

At least 90-95% small fry here. Only a few large companies, and most of their guys are calling me everyday wondering if I am "hiring" ....

Pretty good mix here. I would say 35-65 big small. My personal goal is to have a max of three trucks on the road. I think three good crews can accomplish a lot of work. And they would have a better chance of overtime. Plus when things get tight I wont have to lay off a bunch of people.

I'd say up here in Maine it's about 70% small shops 30% larger. It seems like whenever we have a building boom alot of small (erratic) contractors come out of the woodwork. I think that ratio changes with the economy.
