So there's a 110KV transmission line from the 500KV/230/110 Waugh Chapel switchyard towards Annapolis Mall. Just short of the mall, they go underground. Well, seems there was a minor problem around there; the transmission lines broke and fell, and proceeded to spectacularly arc for several minutes, until silence reigned. Interestingly, on the video I saw, shot from ~1km away, the local lighting stayed on until the breaker at Waugh Chapel cleared, but not sure how/why. [With the transmission lines down; the only way I see there was power was it was fed from a different sub. So why did they go off simultaneously?]
Glad they did not fall on anyone....
